Grove First Friday Wine Share
There’s no regular Friday Social this week, because the club is hosting the Grove First Friday Wine Share on Friday evening. We’ll be welcoming friends from the Grove community — last year nearly 60 people joined us, so this should be a great one. The format is a little different this week: think appetizers and hors d’oeuvres (no main-course dishes), and bring a wine of your choice to share.
Smoke on the Water
This Saturday, August 8th, after the Board meeting, join us for Smoke on the Water! Come by sailboat, motor boat, or any kind of boat and raft up for an afternoon of fun, friends, and food. It’s picnic style, so bring your grill, food, and items to share as we chill and cool off in the lake — and there’s sure to be some good music, too. Come and go as you please. Come join the fun! Board of Governors
The Board of Governors meets this Saturday morning at 10am. As always, members are welcome to sit in.
Around the Club
C dock is finished and members are steadily moving back in — the harbor looks wonderful with the slips filling up again. We’ve heard lots of positive comments about the new gangway and its improved alignment, and new walkway lights are on the way.
Our American Sailing Association affiliation continues to move forward nicely: the application has been approved, the agreement is signed, and the next step is a site inspection. Soon!
Last Saturday’s fun flotilla had a handful of boats out for a lunchtime sail — always great to see sails on the water.
We’re also excited to welcome a group of local Boy Scouts for an introductory sail on Friday morning. If you’re around the club around 10:30, come say hello — we’ve been seeing a lot of interest from young people in learning to sail lately, and we love it.
