Peanut Regatta #5
Peanut Regatta #5 is on tap for this Saturday. The forecast calls for a warm one, with the heat index around 105–107°, so anyone sailing should stay well hydrated and keep a close eye on the conditions. The good news: winds look favorable at a predicted 10–15 mph.
This regatta has a fun new wrinkle — a Pursuit Start, where the slower PHRF-rated boats start first and the faster-rated boats start later. It’s very possible that each boat will have its own start time, which should make for an interesting Captain’s meeting — and, in theory, everyone finishing right about the same time.
After the regatta, the ‘Where’s the Beef’ cookout will be up and running, with each captain feeding their crew after the race. If your boat isn’t ready, or you’re not sure how to race, let us know and we’ll get you on a boat for the afternoon. If you’d just like to join the social side (no sailing required), come on out — bring something to cook and share, picnic style. Come join the fun! See the Events & Calendar for what’s coming up.
Around the Club
Work on C dock is proceeding nicely — electric and water are going back in, and we expect C dock boats will be heading home very soon as the crew wraps up the finishing touches.
And some exciting news: we’ve heard from the American Sailing Association that Grand Lake Sailing Club’s application has been conditionally approved and the club has been accepted as an American Sailing affiliate school — joining a network of more than 400 sailing schools worldwide that have certified over 630,000 sailors since 1983. There are still a few steps to complete, but the process is moving right along, and we’re looking forward to our first class soon.
