Minutes of the Regular Board of Governors Meeting
May 9, 2026
The meeting was at the clubhouse, and Commodore Fred Overstreet called the meeting to order at 10:01 am. BOG members present were Fred Overstreet, David Mercer, David Elliott, Claude Phelps, Adan Moore, Kit Hines, Rod Sipes, Clint Baxter, Vic Rider, Brendan Jensen, Terry Decoster and Joel Leach. Mary Frear was absent.
April minutes were emailed to the BOG, and approved through email. David Mercer made a motion to approve minutes, Brendan 2nd.
Officer Reports
Vice Commodore, David Mercer:
- Deposited $48.00 for ice sales from Oct. 25 through Mar. 26.
- Deposited $125.00 from burgee sales.
- Fixed leak on refrigerator ice maker water line.
- Spring Work Day on 4/18/26 had 26 attendees; $479.43 was spent on food, drinks and supplies, including 10 × 50 lbs of asphalt patch and a hand tamper.
- Spring Work Day on Thursday 5/30/26 had 10 attendees; two more holes in the asphalt driveway were patched; old floats, wood and pipes from behind the Oar House were cut up and hauled off. $77.35 was spent on food and drinks.
- Cleaned leaves and debris out of the A/C condenser for the clubhouse and installed a mesh cover.
- Planning at least two additional work days this summer.
Harbor Master, Adan Moore:
- Two available slips at this time.
- Docks are in pretty good shape.
- Repairs being made to F dock.
- Some slip reassignments have been approved.
Rear Commodore, David Elliott:
- Spring Fling was a success — 64 in attendance.
- Swap Meet — 5/11/26.
- Explore Grand Lake Expedition — May 14th–17th — organized by Troy Calhoon.
- Next Peanut Regatta is 5/23; Drunken Rooster is also having a Spring Firework Display on 5/23.
- June 13th — Claude is doing a presentation on his Cross-Atlantic voyage, and that evening is Cheeseburger in Paradise.
- Club now has a speaker system; investigating a handheld bluetooth microphone to use with it.
Secretary, Kit Hines:
- Nothing to report.
Treasurer, Mary Frear:
- Treasurer Report provided via email. Bank balance totaled $108,757.19 with an additional $213,398.84 in Edward Jones and $84.54 in Biller Genie Sweep. Year-to-date income as of April 30, 2026 was $253,570 and expenses were $105,509 for a total net income of $148,061.
Social Media Director, Clint Baxter:
- Website traffic continues to be strong.
- 40 members have signed up for accounts on the GLSC website; some BOG members reported it went to junk mail — Clint will follow up.
Fleet Master, Claude Phelps:
- Continuing maintenance on the fleet boats, especially the two 30s coming out the weekend of 5/16 for a long-distance event.
Old Business
Joel made the motion to approve another month of the Vic Rider Agreement, Brendan 2nd, all approved.
Update on dock and funding — insurance check received ($177,000). Work expected to begin with C dock the week of 5/11.
Fee Increase — all members were given an opportunity to discuss. No action taken at this time.
New Business
New members — Brendan made a motion to approve fleet membership for Mike and Allison Harris, Claude 2nd, all approved.
Dock Cameras — all board members were given an opportunity to discuss. Estimates will be obtained. No additional action taken.
Clint provided a brief summary of members’ application requirements for the board to consider. No action was taken.
Brendan made the motion to adjourn the meeting, Adan 2nd, all approved. Time adjourned: 10:55 AM.
