October Updates

Fall is in full swing!

D dock construction continues and I believe we are headed down the last run to the finish. I am hopeful that it will be done very soon and we can get some more folks back to home port.

Fall race series is well underway with 4 of the 6 races completed!

This coming weekend has the Long Distance Classic scheduled for Saturday morning. Captains are all hoping for good winds to get them there and back.

This past Saturday there were 8 boats and one carload that participated in the Pirate Poker Run, a total of 29 hands were in play. A big thank you to Evan Arter and his crew for organizing the Poker Run and to Honey Creek Marina, the BJ Brady family and ShangriLa Marina for hosting our pirate flags. Winning hand was held by Sharon Carey, 2nd place was Shiela Leech and David Mercer had the 3rd best hand.

After the Poker Run we had close to 50 members gathered for Pirate Potluck Dinner. Thanks to Mayo Selby for cooking all the ‘Peg Legs’ and to all the members that brought side dishes as well. David Elliott and his crew of volunteers (I hear they’re calling themselves ’The Coven’ 😂) did a wonderful job with setup, decorating and tear down. There was a great contingent of attendees in full pirate costume as well. A great time was had by all.
