Apr 22, 2026 – This Week at GLSC

Hey all,

As always, Friday Social is at 6pm on… Friday.

If you’re planning to attend, it helps if you post your potluck dish on the Members Only Facebook page or reply so we can help spread the word. It helps others plan and makes sure we have plenty of choices for dinner. We have had one plate of shrimp and six desserts show up before. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

Upcoming Events

  • Friday Social: Friday at 6pm
  • Peanut Regatta Series, Round 2: This Saturday
    Captain’s meeting: 10am
Starting time and destination will be announced at the meeting
    Come join the fun!

You can also check the Events & Calendar for club happenings.

Club News

Dock news: equipment has begun arriving on site as the dock crew prepares to get started on repairs. We’re looking forward to being back to normal soon.

Last weekend’s Spring Workday was declared a success by Vice Commodore Mercer. I believe 26 folks braved the cool, rainy-looking morning, and a bunch of work was completed. A big thanks to everyone who participated.

Fun Flotilla

Fun Flotilla was a little quiet. The weather was not exactly perfect, and some workday exhaustion may have contributed, but three boats made it out. The winds were very favorable, and the sun even popped out later in the afternoon to make it a great day for spring sailing.

One family came from Arkansas to experience their very first sailing adventure. Dad, Mom, a 13-year-old young man, and a 10-year-old young lady hopped aboard Mayhem for a trip up to Honey Creek Marina and then back to Shangri-La before heading back to the club. The family reported that they had a big time and are already making plans to do more.

Thanks to Josey Murray for staying to helm. We enjoyed having them aboard as well.

Peanut Regatta

More sailing news: the second round of the Peanut Regatta Series is this coming Saturday.

Thanks to our series sponsor, Hampton Farms and Nut Butters company. I do see their products are available at the area Harp’s Food Stores.

Come join the fun!

Closing for now, but I hope to see a bunch of you at the Social or on the water for the Peanut Race.

Thanks,
Fred Overstreet
