Big weekend coming up, with the Italian Party on Saturday and the first race of the Fall Series both set for Saturday.
Italian Dinner Party — Saturday, Sept. 12
From the Party Crew: GLSC Italian Dinner Party, Saturday, Sept. 12th. Social 5:30, dinner 6:00 pm. Some of the delectable delights being prepared include Italian Cream Cake, Garlic Mizithra, Lasagna, Linguine with Clam Sauce, and Spaghetti with Meatballs. Fall Racing Series — Race #1 this Saturday
From Rear Commodore David Elliott: The Fall Racing Series starts this weekend. Captains Meeting at 10, with races at 11 (2 with practice starts).
There will be two fleets:
- A Fleet — for racing boats.
- B Fleet — for cruising boats and boats new to racing.
If you want to learn to sail and handle your boat better, this is an excellent time to learn from others out on the course. Don’t be intimidated by the starting line or the marks — B Fleet is an exciting, fun way to pit yourself against similar boats and learn up close what works for your boat.
Want to be involved but not captain a boat? Crew is regularly needed, and it’s a great opportunity to teach and learn. Just reach out.
These races are open to boats of club members — it’s our event. Courses will be typical windward/leeward and triangle courses, kept shorter (about 45–60 minutes per race) so we can get multiple races completed in a single afternoon.
